“12mins of Death…”

“12mins of Death…”
A week ago, Breanne and I were in Orlando for our 90 Day Immersion Live Event.
About 25 of us stayed in a huge mansion, located on a golf course, with absolutely every amenity you could ever dream of.
It even had a bowling ally and arcade!
Mind. Body. Business. Relationships.
We not only learned about storytelling and business building across these four dimensions, we experienced them together.
5:30am on that first morning, our alarms started blaring.
Mine was turned up to the max.
2:30am PST is an impossible time for me to wake-up.
Especially after staying up way too late the night before.
But there was no way we were missing the team workout with our Impact Club Trainer, CJ Thomas, that morning.
We’re way too competitive for that.
As we make our way downstairs and then out to the back patio, I hear the words: “12mins of Death.”
Oh boy.
I can hardly keep my eyes open.
It’s so muggy here.
I wonder what CJ has planned.
But in that wondering was the greatest realization.
It doesn’t matter what he has planned.
All I have to do is show up.
I don’t have to figure out when I can squeeze in a workout today.
Or decide what kind of workout I want to do.
Or consider class schedules.
I just had to show up and do the work.
Removing all the decision-making removes all the excuses.
He says to do burpees – OK.
Situps – got it.
Mountain climbers – done.
12 minutes of death – perfect.
No thinking, contemplating, wondering.
Just show up and do.
It made me realize that I need to setup my home workouts in this way.
Rather than looking at my schedule every day, deciding when I have some free time, contemplating if I want to go to a class or do a 20/30/45min ride on my Peloton bike…
Or if I’m hungry and would rather make dinner instead!
I just need to decide right now what specific days of the week I will work out.
Determine ahead of time what that routine will be.
Then just show up and do the work.
Removing the decisions will remove the excuses.
And removing the decision-making frees up that mental energy for much more important work.
