“My Lesser Self was winning…”

“My Lesser Self Was Winning…”

… for 20 minutes! Then I put her in her place!

For 20 straight minutes, my Lesser Self was quietly whispering in the background of my Peloton ride.

“20 minutes is long enough.”
“You need to get back in the house to Kaden, dinner, cleaning up.”
“Just post that you did a ride, but don’t mention the time since you probably can’t jog a 5K in 20 minutes… yet!”

(Tuesday is the GRIT 5k day. Since I’m not yet running, I do my workout on my Peloton bike.)

It was crazy!
I was doing the ride. Loving the music. Loving Ally Love (my fav instructor).

And then I heard this little justification going on in the background.

I was literally talking myself into why it would be OK to just do a 20-minute ride, without really even realizing what I was thinking about.

That’s how my sneaky Lesser Self tears me down and stops me from reaching my potential… a quiet whisper in the background that I sometimes don’t even notice.

Until I do… then screw that!
There’s no way she’s winning!

I finished the 20 minute ride I started and then jumped into a 10 minute endurance ride. That’s much more realistic for how long it would take to run a 5K right now!

And you know, it felt pretty darn good to do those extra 10 minutes!

I’ve done a ton of work on my Inner Critic, the voice of the Lesser Self.

I’m very aware of where it typically shows up and I’ve transformed this voice in many areas of my life.

But it’s been surprising me a little in GRIT.
Giving me new areas to work on, and I’m loving it!
