“I hold the pen…”

“I Hold The Pen”
Benjamin Franklin once said, “Either write something worth doing or do something worth writing.”
I say, “Do both!”
Every day, I have the opportunity to write something worth doing.
The opportunity, that is, to write precisely who I will be.
What I will think and say.
How I will respond.
My habits, routines, and principles.
I am the author of my own story.
I hold the pen.
The question is, will I be brave enough to write the script I really dream of (not just the safe and realistic one) and then live it out?
Will I write the script of a caring mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend who values and nourishes her relationships?
Or not?
Will I write the script of prioritizing my own physical, mental, and emotional health?
Or do I always put others first?
Will I write the script of building a business that impacts so many others? A business that I almost can’t imagine yet because it seems larger than life?
Or will I settle for my safer corporate career path?
Answering YES is vulnerable.
It’s risky.
It’s scary.
For then I have to open up about these dreams.
I have to share my deeper passions and emotions with others.
I have to take all those first steps and then keep moving.
I have to be vulnerable. And accountable.
But you know what… if I do, then I’ll also be living a life worth writing about.
As we write, so we become… we can write something worth doing AND do something worth writing about, or we can continue just living our lives by accident.
I choose to write.
