“Sweet or Salty…”

“Sweet or Salty?”
This is a very important identity trait.
One that everyone seems to know immediately.
Are you a sweets person or a salty person?
Red velvet cupcake or bag of chips?
For me, cupcakes with tasty frosting are pretty tempting.
But potatoes, especially mashed potatoes and tater tots, can’t be beaten. Or Costco cashews… YUM!
So, I guess I’d have to say that I’m a salty person.
Which should make cutting sugar easy, right?!
I started in mid-February
No sugar.
It started out hard.
Sugar is added to everything.
Even coconut milk and spaghetti sauce!
I made it through our 90 Day Immersion Live Event with little to no sugar. Just a few M&Ms in my trail mix, but no “desserts”.
I avoided the inevitable work treats.
I was on a roll.
And I felt great!
I didn’t crave sweets. I could easily say no.
My body felt refreshed and my mind less foggy.
Until one day when it all came to an end…
With Cupcake Royale.
My parents were in town and Sennad, being an awesome husband, reminded me that it was just my mom’s birthday.
“We should get cupcakes to celebrate!”
I thought about it and figured, sure, I’ll have a cupcake to celebrate with my mom.
Then, I’m back to no sugar.
Plus, Cupcake Royale is so delicious!
Especially when we got 4 different kinds and cut them all in 4 pieces. I savored my little slice of each one.
And with that, it was all over…
That cupcake led to eating a donut at work.
Then, homemade cupcakes for Charlee’s birthday.
Then more donuts at work.
It’s like suddenly my will power to say NO was gone.
Totally vanished.
And my past love for that red velvet cupcake was back.
Sugar is a crazy thing.
It’s incredibly bad for our bodies.
Yet delicious.
It’s absolutely addicting.
And it’s everywhere.
After a month of feeling great, I was right back to where I started.
But this time, I had the recent memory of how great it felt without sugar.
So, I’m starting again.
This time, giving myself some freedom to have something sweet one day a week.
To celebrate.
Taste something homemade.
Enjoy a special occasion.
Otherwise, I’ve already tested it out and I know that I feel best when I’m not eating sugar.
And I want to feel great!
To have the energy for my many relationships, ideas, and endeavors.
To be full of life.
