“The unimaginable has happened…”
Shared by Kristina Smedley
If you’ve traveled with me, you know my lean philosophy for the airport.
Arrive just in time.
I mean literally. There’s no way I’m there before an hour early. I’m getting to my gate right at boarding.
I’ve had my name called with a warning for final boarding more than once.
I’ve run through terminals.
Sweating when I arrive at the gate.
One time I even arrived a second before the door closed. Quite literally just in time.
It’s fun.
There’s no wasted time.
Sometimes there’s an adrenaline rush.
Sorry, not sorry. I love it!
But not this morning.
Somehow the absolute unimaginable has happened. I woke up at 4:30 to be here by 6, for my 7am flight.
Waking up at 4:30 is the first problem.
I love sleep and I’m not a morning person.
Uber dropped me off at the perfect time… 5:50.
I rushed in to see what gate I needed to hurry to, just to find problem number 2. I couldn’t find my flight!
Shoot! Was it at 6?
I whipped out my phone. Nnnnooooo!!
It’s at 7:50!
I’m two hours early and one hour short on sleep for the night.
I’m in utter disbelief! What am I going to do for 2 hours in an airport!!
Turns out it’s not that bad.
No sweating. No hurrying.
Plenty of time to grab water, use the restroom, enjoy a coffee.
I even let a couple of people go in front of me, who were in a much bigger rush than I am.
It’s been a relaxing morning at the airport.
Sennad Fallak , probably to your dismay, I don’t think I’m turning over a new leaf but maybe I’ll be a little more open to your idea of getting here early when we travel.
As for today, I guess I’m just excited to get to San Diego to hang out with great friends! See you soon, Melanie Fletcher, Melissa Cozzetto-Andrews, and Liz!!
