“The struggle…”
Shared by Kristina Smedley
For about the last month, I’ve been feeling a little down.
You guys know that I’m usually full of excitement, working on all sorts of ideas, plans, and projects. Over the last month, I’ve felt a little dull, blah, and unmotivated.
Watching more tv. Not eating as healthy. Not feeling like working out.
I wondered if maybe it was the weather. Winter in Seattle is a lot different than winter in Huntington Beach.
Maybe it’s the fact that I’m feeling ready to move on at Boeing, learn something new. I’ve been feeling a little restless.
Whatever it’s been, I’ve found myself less creative. More short-tempered. More irritable.
It finally hit me last night as I was chatting with my Professional Coaching Certificate Pod.
As I dive into self-awareness and growth, the more I’m realizing areas I need to focus on, in order to overcome some old programming that doesn’t serve me. In fact, it holds me back.
It’s deep, transformational work. It’s emotional. It’s outside of my comfort zone. It requires being extremely vulnerable, with myself and others.
It’s prompted some uncomfortable conversations that still sit on my mind.
Last night, while chatting with my Podmates for the first time in a month, I was able to share this and actually hear that some of them were feeling similarly.
We are all on our own journey. Having our own experiences.
But at the same time, we understand one another. We can empathize.
It was so healing. And relieving. And made so much sense.
I’m feeling a lot better today.
The work, the emotions, the struggle are all worth it as I envision the future of the movement Breanne and I are creating. I imagine a day filled with empowering other ladies, developing confidence and leadership skills, and changing our world.
Serving others requires me to fuel myself first, learn to deeply listen, build relationships, and be resilient. Making this type of impact requires me to be my best self.
So, I continue on today, with quite a bit more pep in my step.
More energy and positivity at work.
And some new ideas running through my mind.
