“Lets do it together… “

Shared by Kristina Smedley

You know those evenings… when you get home from work, are tired, don’t feel like cooking dinner or working out, and secretly just want to hop into a nice comfy bed.

I have these evenings every now and then.
They’re rare, but they happen.

Sennad actually just mentioned yesterday that I haven’t had a “go to bed at 6pm night” in awhile.

He’s right… but tonight is one of those nights.
It’s 6:22pm.

I could get 11hrs of sleep!

OK, but really, I’m not that tired.
I just don’t feel like doing ‘all the things’ this evening.

However, to live a life of 1% daily improvement, there are ‘things’ that I’m committed to and actually really want to do.

So, I made us dinner. Yum!
I’m doing my daily writing.
I’ll meditate right before bed since I missed it this morning.
20mins of reading a great book.

And working out… oh, I really don’t feel like working out.

I considered the amount of time I had before going to bed and was really hoping I wouldn’t have time.

I do.

I tried to think of another excuse to feel justified in not working out.
‘I don’t want to’ doesn’t work.

Then, I looked at Sennad… I should ask him to work out with me.

“Let’s do it together… the new Peloton yoga class!”

“OK.” I can see he doesn’t really want to do it either.

But, we agreed and so, we’ll work out together in a couple of minutes.

We’re finding motivation together, even when we don’t feel it alone.

I almost didn’t ask him, because I know that when I’m feeling a little low on willpower and motivation, that if Sennad is in, then I’ll be up for just about anything.

And, I was really trying to excuse myself from working out tonight.

I don’t like that side of me… justifying reasons why I don’t need to keep my commitments to myself.

So, tonight I used the life hack of relying on my relationships to help provide some inspiration.

I believe relationships are the foundation of accomplishment, in our personal lives, at work, in our communities. From simple things like yoga in the living room to complex community initiatives.

I’m thankful for my relationship with Sennad. Thankful that we can motivate and inspire one another to accomplish more than we would have otherwise.

When you have those evenings, days, projects where you don’t feel motivated, find those relationships that inspire you, that you inspire.

You’ll be amazed by what can be accomplished together.
