“I want to be like the forest…”

 Shared by Kristina Smedley

Do you remember the last time you explored the forest?
I have the best childhood memories of hiking and exploring the forest near Mt. Rainier.

My parents and brothers. Sometimes our family friends.
Snacks, hiking sticks, backpacks, and all the safety supplies you can imagine.

Not a worry in the world, just being there in the moment, with a day of adventure ahead.

I remember staring up at the big, beautiful trees towering overhead.
Crossing logs over crystal clear streams running underneath, balancing, and feeling brave.
Sitting on huge boulders to grab a snack.
Begging my brother to pull us up the really steep slopes.
Looking out across the most beautiful views.
Laughing, loving, looking at bugs, learning about the plants, and feeling like it was the most marvelous place in the world.

Being a child.

Oh, what it would be like, to be like the forest.

Present… fully engaged in the Now. Not worrying about the past or planning for the future.
Providing an enabling space for others to grow, and all to grow together.
Enabling others to reach their full potential, in harmony with their surrounding ecosystem.
Diversity and inclusion are natural and desired.
Constant learning, adapting, and growing.
Much going on, but all in congruence.
Creativity.
A sense of calm.
Resilience.
Joy.
Compassion.

And I think it’s possible; I can grow to become more like the forest, personally and as a leader.

On a personal level, by:
-Building mindfulness and meditation practices.
-Working out 4 times per week.
-Personal reflection and journaling
-Building a loving and strong family.
-Growing strong relationships.
-Deeply feeling emotions.
-Being a storyteller and sharing.

On a professional level, by:
-Being impactful in my local community.
-Listening, caring, and serving the best interests of others.
-Graduating from the New Ventures West Professional Coaching Certificate course.
-Developing our Mindfluent® Leader philosophy and community with Breanne.
-Then, building service offerings to grow a generative and giving business, that allows the resources and time to enjoy a fulfilling life.

This is a life goal, a vision of the future.

And just like the forest, I will also be fully present in the current, beautiful moment. Not always planning, strategizing, thinking.

Instead, just being in the Now.

(and creating more time to enjoy the beauty surrounding us!)
