“Pace Beaver…”
Shared by Kristina Smedley
“What Pace Rabbit are you going to follow?” I asked Sennad.
“Pace Beaver… 1:35,” he replied.
“Beaver, Rabbit, whatever… wow! 1:35, that would be your fastest yet!”
It was 6am on a rainy, cold Saturday morning and we’re discussing rabbits and beavers, while he’s getting ready to run his third ½ marathon, in yucky fall weather that we haven’t quite acclimated to since moving home from the always perfect SoCal weather.
See, I’ve never run far enough to have an actual Pacer lead the way, to inspire me to keep going to reach or exceed my goal.
In my 5k’s I just tried to stay with my friends or had fun trying to pass the slower runners since I usually started behind a lot of them. It was more like a game!
Sennad, on the other hand, always has a goal and aligns himself right behind the person, Pacer or friend, who can help lead him towards that goal.
The idea of having a Pacer is applicable in fitness, in our personal lives, at work… everywhere!
So, who would I consider a Pacer for the Mindfluent Leadership Movement that we are all co-creating?
Who would I love to align myself with, to learn from, to grow with?
There are so many personal friends and acquaintances that come to mind, so my answer might sound a little off at first.
But, I’m really inspired by and look up to Ally Love!
One of the amazing Peloton instructors.
Ally’s not just a Peloton instructor, teaching live and on-demand cycling classes; she’s also a Brooklyn Nets host, a model, an Adidas ambassador, and probably so much more.
She’s a constant source of energy, enthusiasm, encouragement, and belief that we are all “bosses” and can build and live beautiful lives together.
She’s a community builder and a movement maker!
Exactly what Breanne and I aspire to be.
At one point Ally founded a non-profit and then started #lovesquad, where she’s bringing women together around their love for sweat and then aiming to empower them in many aspects of life.
Through #lovesquad, she has hosted sessions and important conversations around topics such as: Women & Money, Women in Business, Women’s Bodies – why we love them or hate them, and so so so much more!
I imagine that one-day #mindfluentleader could be something similar!
To reach our vision of unlocking potential and creating lasting change in our communities, we will need a strong community joining together, having tough and empowering conversations, and co-creating the future together.
So yes, Ally might be my favorite Peloton instructor (which helps me commit to working out), but she’s also a pacer showing us a way towards the future we imagine.
